Deploying and supporting next-generation firewalls for gaming leader, SEGA Europe.

Context

It’s not all play-time at SEGA Europe, one of the world’s leading interactive entertainment companies. Like all modern businesses, SEGA Europe has to stay on the front foot when it comes to protecting its users and more importantly, its data. The company relies on its robust infrastructure to ensure enterprise-wide visibility and control and this was only possible by switching to next-generation Palo Alto firewalls from Ideal.

Situation

As a fast-moving software development company, SEGA Europe needs a flexible firewall solution that empowers their security team to safely enable applications to the benefit of the whole organisation. SEGA Europe selected next-generation firewalls from Gartner-recognised leader, Palo Alto, as these delivered the application visibility and control the business needed. “We wanted to upgrade to a firewall solution that was easy-to-deploy but also delivered high-performance,” said Kashif Iqbal, Head of Network and Security, SEGA Europe. “Palo Alto was the obvious choice.”

“We also needed to make sure we work with an experienced managed service provider,” added Iqbal. “Ideal was recommended to us and I’ve been impressed with their deep technical ability, in particular quickly resolving complex issues.”

Ideal Solution

The team at Ideal provide a fully managed security service to SEGA Europe 24/7/365 from the operations centre based in their Brighton headquarters. “A number of our gaming and studio teams work out of hours and it’s vital we have a UK-based out of hours support team. Ideal always provides a rapid response to incident management, keeping us informed every step of the way,” commented Clinton Littlejohn, Network and Security Technician.  “We’re now using their Professional Services team too, and we really value their technical advice on new projects.”

As a Palo Alto Networks Platinum Partner, Ideal has the expertise to sell, configure and support PAN’s next-generation security portfolio.
