22 Bishopsgate is generally recognised as one of the smartest buildings in Europe. Designed with a focus on wellbeing, 22 Bishopsgate is a vertical village focused on the modern office worker and their evolving needs. As they themselves say “We designed the building we’d want to work in”.

The team at 22 Bishopsgate work to a set of commitments that focus on wellbeing, learning, equality, and sustainability. Watch the video to hear from Peter Bignell, Head of Engineering 22 Bishopsgate at JLL, and Glenn Cowell, Smart Systems Manager 22 Bishopsgate at JLL about what makes 22 Bishopsgate smart, and how the relationship with Ideal supports the vision.

Ideal has been a partner across the 22 Bishopsgate journey, designing and building their Converged Network System, including the building Wi-Fi, through to providing managed services support.

In 2021, Oak View Group (OVG) contracted Ideal to deliver the core network for Co-op Live. The £350million venue is due to open late in 2023. It will be the largest indoor arena in the UK, with a 23,500-capacity and will play host to live music, entertainment, sports, and e-sports events. Ideal are supporting this vision through the design and build of the core network infrastructure technology, delivering the best possible connectivity experience for visitors, spectators, and artists.

Supporting London’s new urban village with a highly-intelligent 10G network infrastructure – delivered on-time and within budget.

In 2014, Skanska, one of the UK’s leading contractors, was awarded the £88.6m contract to deliver the mechanical and electrical shell, core and fit-out works. A critical element of Phase 1 was a high-performing converged network system.

Twickenham Stadium

Twickenham Stadium is the home of England Rugby. Seating 82,000 spectators on a match day, Twickenham is the largest dedicated rugby union venue in the world. In 2012 the Rugby Football Union (RFU) undertook a £76 million development plan to create a state-of-the-art, connected stadium to enhance the experience for fans attending on match day. Early in 2014, Ideal engaged with the RFU to design an enhanced Converged Network System, including wireless enablement to enable match days fans access high density Wi-Fi and unlimited web access. The CNS was deployed while stadium reconstruction and refurbishment work was already underway.

Ideal have worked with a wide range of buildings where we have designed, built and deployed the Converged Network System and / or have supplied managed services.
