10,000 steps to improving our fitness

10 February 2016

At Ideal we recently took part in the 10,000 Steps Challenge. Over 10 weeks, we challenged ourselves to try and walk 10,000 steps each day.

There were varying degrees of success against this daily target, but as a company we walked 17,712,607 steps over the 10-week period - a back-of-the-envelope calculation says that's about 8,000 miles, or almost the distance from Brighton to Australia!

At the outset we divided the company into teams, and I promised to make a donation to the charity of choice of the winning team. Our team winners - the Lycra Kings - nominated The Clock Tower Sanctuary  – a brilliant local charity.

The Clock Tower Sanctuary is the only drop-in service providing all-round information, advice and support to homeless young people in Brighton & Hove. Their centre is open six days a week.
They provide a friendly, bright, centrally located, safe space for young people to engage with their peers and other visiting agencies – without the worry of having to share a service with older people who can be intimidating.

We’re delighted to support this local charity who are doing such great work. We’ve donated £250 on behalf of our victorious stepping team.

If you’d like to support The Clock Tower Sanctuary you can make a donation on their website. You can also find them on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter.
