Welcome to Ideal! What's your new job title?
My job title is senior account manager.
What will you be doing day to day?
My initial task will be to embed myself in my new role by building and growing an account base for myself. I will be focusing on commercial organisations in a range of verticals. To do this, I intend to meet as many new customers as possible through social, calling and marketing campaigns utilising my 10 years of experience in IT.
What attracted you to Ideal?
I had been in my previous role for two and a half years and I hadn’t fully decided to leave, but I became aware of Ideal. On seeing the jobs video I decided to meet Rob, the sales director, to better gauge what Ideal was about. When I saw the offices, met Rob to talk about Ideal’s roadmap and got a feeling of the fast-paced, relaxed and fresh culture (which felt much more Shoreditch/London with a Brighton spin) I was really excited at the prospect of working here. The rest is pretty much history.
What are you most looking forward to?
I am most looking forward to the new challenge and meeting new people. Also, the technology roadmap and growth here at Ideal is really exciting, I am looking forward to learning and understanding new cutting edge tech and sharing those solutions with my customers.
Tell us about your career in 100 words or less
I qualified with an HND in music technology in 2006 - I've been DJing and producing ever since. Initially, I wanted to pursue that, but I needed a 'real job' to get a mortgage. I started with Everest: knocking doors was brutal, but it gave me a good grounding in sales. I worked for two Apple resellers, focusing on education, then on commercial and media solutions. My most recent role was in managed cloud, where I learned lots about cloud and security. I took a particular interest in the latter, which lead me to Ideal, with its strong security acumen.
What will be your biggest challenge(s)?
Learning all the new processes and systems is probably the biggest challenge.
In five years, what do you hope to have achieved?
At a minimum I would hope to be a full account director with Ideal, enjoying my job, being healthy, and helping customers with their IT strategies.
What do you do outside work?
When I am not working I like to make music, watch football (I am a Sheffield Wednesday fan, for my sins) and go to the gym. I enjoy I watching box sets with my two cats, Teddy and Pookey.
Recommend a film, TV show, game or book
Ozark is a great boxset on Netflix, well worth a watch.
