In joining the Ideal Academy, Connor follows in the footsteps of Maisie, Mike and Jacob, beginning a structured programme of training and on-the-job experience within the sales department. Find out what he does, what he likes, and what he's looking forward to.
Welcome to Ideal! What's your new job title?
I’m currently a sales executive.
What will you be doing day to day?
My day includes assisting sales support and account managers with pricing, orders and queries. Also, as I’m part of the Ideal Academy, I will be training to be an account manager.
What attracted you to Ideal?
I was attracted to Ideal predominantly by the culture and the attitude of the people here. People at Ideal are passionate about their jobs, and about providing the best solutions for their customers.
What are you most looking forward to?
I’m looking forward to getting fully involved with the sales process, and continuously learning new things.
Tell us about your career in 100 words or less
I recently graduated from Brighton University with a first-class honours in Business Management and Economics. During my course I undertook a year-long placement at Amadeus IT Group, near Gatwick.
What will be your biggest challenge(s)?
I think understanding the processes and the technical aspects of the technology that Ideal supplies and consults on will take time, but thankfully there are plenty of resources to draw upon. As part of the Academy I'll get training on this, and will get the chance to learn from our in-house experts.
In five years, what do you hope to have achieved?
I hope to be an established account manager working with a large portfolio of happy customers.
What do you do outside work?
In my free time I enjoy running and playing football; between March and May I completed four running events including the North London Half-Marathon and the Brighton Marathon. I read when I can, but I find myself sometimes too busy to finish books.
Recommend a film, TV show, game or book
One of my favourite films is Memento. It was one of Christopher Nolan’s first and, in my opinion, his best! I also recommend 1984 by George Orwell. If you haven’t read it, you should!
