Imran is one of the newest support engineers on the Ideal service desk. Find out what he does, what he likes and what he's looking forward to.

Welcome to Ideal! What's your new job title?

I am a first and second-line support engineer on the service desk.

What will you be doing day to day?

I'm supporting Ideal customers on a daily basis. I work mostly with our customer service portal, Cherwell, and with support tickets.

What attracted you to Ideal?

I like Ideal and its environment: it’s a good place for someone like myself who is keen to learn and move on with his career. I have very helpful colleagues and my manager is always there to help if I have any questions.

What are you most looking forward to?

I'd like to take my career on a security path, so maybe after getting some more hands-on experience with Palo Alto and Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA) I'll go for some certifications.

In five years, what do you hope to have achieved?

I want to be a security and Linux expert. I'm single at the moment, so I'm focused on learning and growing my career!

What do you do outside work?

I like cooking and going out. I love offshore fishing - love it!

Recommend a film, TV show or book

I love reading, but I can't recommend any single book. I'm not much into watching TV - there's just too much information flowing through.
